Andrew was a fisherman from Bethsaida, the brother of Simon Peter and originally a disciple of John the Baptist. In John's Gospel he follows Jesus after John points Him out as the Lamb of God and then brings his brother Simon to Jesus; in the Synoptics he is called with Peter beside the Sea of Galilee.

James was a Galilean fisherman, the son of Zebedee and brother of John, called by Jesus while mending nets beside the Sea of Galilee. He was one of the three disciples present at the raising of Jairus's daughter and at the transfiguration, and Acts records that Herod Agrippa had him killed by the sword.
