Jesus sets out for Jerusalem
Also known as The final journey, Third passion prediction
Luke records that as the time for His departure drew near, Jesus resolutely set His face toward Jerusalem. On the way He kept teaching in towns and villages, and He told the Twelve plainly that in Jerusalem He would be handed over, mocked, killed, and raised on the third day. The disciples did not understand.
Why it matters. Jesus goes to Jerusalem knowingly. The cross is not an accident that overtakes Him but the goal He walks toward, and the disciples' incomprehension shows that the meaning of His death was not obvious even to those closest to Him.
