The healing of the paralytic
Also known as Your sins are forgiven
In Capernaum four men lowered a paralyzed friend through the roof to reach Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus first forgave the man's sins, and when the scribes objected that only God can forgive, He healed the man so that they would know the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.
Why it matters. The healing is a public claim: the Son of Man forgives sins, and the visible cure certifies the invisible pardon.
