Capernaum
Capernaum was a fishing town on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee that became the base of Jesus's Galilean ministry. Matthew calls it His own town; the Gospels place many healings and synagogue teachings there.
Why it matters. Much of the Kingdom announcement and healing ministry radiated from Capernaum.
