On a mountainside in Galilee Jesus taught His disciples and the crowds: the Beatitudes, the call to be salt and light, a righteousness that goes deeper than the law's letter, the Lord's Prayer, trust in the Father, and the two ways ending in the wise and foolish builders. The crowds were astonished at His authority.
Why it matters. The Sermon is the fullest statement of what life in the Kingdom looks like, and it ends with the demand that hearers act on His words.
