Jericho is an ancient oasis city in the Jordan Valley, the first city Israel took under Joshua and, in the Gospels, the last stop before Jesus climbed to Jerusalem. There He healed blind Bartimaeus and stayed at the house of Zacchaeus.

Why it matters. Jericho is where the road to Jerusalem begins its ascent, and where the Journey records a blind man's sight and a tax collector's repentance on the way to the cross.
