Gethsemane
Also known as Garden of Gethsemane
Gethsemane was a garden or olive grove at the foot of the Mount of Olives, across the Kidron Valley from Jerusalem, where Jesus often met with His disciples. On the night of His arrest He prayed there in anguish and was betrayed there by Judas.
Why it matters. Gethsemane is where the Son's obedience to the Father is seen most clearly, and where the Passion turns from supper to arrest.
