Zereth was a Judahite, the son of Ashhur (or 'Ashur') and his wife Helah. Ashhur was the father (ie founder) of Tekoa, a town in Judah. Zereth is mentioned in the genealogy of Judah in 1Chronicles 4, along with his brothers Zohar and Ethnan.
