Adam

Also known as The first man

Adam was the first human being, formed by God from the dust of the ground and placed in the garden of Eden to work and keep it. With Eve he disobeyed God's one command and was sent out of the garden. Genesis, Luke's genealogy, and Paul's letters all treat him as the head of the human family.

Why it matters. Paul sets Adam and Christ side by side: through one man's disobedience death came to all, through one man's obedience life. Luke traces Jesus' line back to Adam, the son of God.
