About Jabez

Jabez is mentioned briefly in the genealogy of the tribe of Judah (1Ch.2.55). The passage states that the families of scribes who lived at Jabez were the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Sucathites. These families were associated with the Kenites, who were descendants of Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.
