About Zechariah

Zechariah was a descendant of Perez, the son of Judah, who lived in Jerusalem after the return from the Babylonian exile. He was the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel. Zechariah is mentioned in the list of the people who resettled in Jerusalem, which was a smaller population compared to the wider region of Judah. His presence in Jerusalem suggests his commitment to restoring the city and its spiritual life.
