Thomas
Also known as Didymus, Doubting Thomas
Thomas, called Didymus, was one of the Twelve. John records him offering to die with Jesus, asking how the disciples could know the way, refusing to believe the resurrection without touching the wounds, and then confessing the risen Jesus as his Lord and God.
Why it matters. Thomas gives the Gospels their clearest confession of the divinity of Jesus, spoken by the disciple who had demanded proof.
