Moses

Moses was the Levite child drawn out of the Nile and raised in Pharaoh's house, whom God called at the burning bush to bring Israel out of Egypt. He led the people through the sea, received the law at Sinai, and guided them for forty years to the edge of the promised land.

Why it matters. The Gospels present Jesus in Moses' shadow and beyond it: the law came through Moses, grace and truth through Jesus Christ. Moses appears with Elijah at the transfiguration, and Jesus says Moses wrote of Him.
