Ananias of Damascus
Also known as Ananias
Ananias was a disciple in Damascus, described by Paul as a devout observer of the law respected by the Jews there. Sent by the Lord in a vision, he overcame his fear of the persecutor, laid hands on Saul so that his sight returned, and baptized him.
Why it matters. An otherwise unknown believer welcomes the church's greatest enemy as a brother, and Paul's ministry begins with that act of obedience.
